The architecture of a Strong Relationship Series – Part 3

The Walls, the Roof, as Boundaries and Protection.
Why do you think every home has walls? Exactly so! We do this to provide security, and roof to shield against external forces. This is also true in relationships; boundaries and protection serve the same purpose:
Healthy boundaries: Knowing where individuality ends and partnership begins, ensuring that personal needs and space are respected.
External influences: Protecting the relationship from toxic interference such as unhealthy friendships, societal pressures, or unnecessary comparisons.
We can build healthy boundaries by doing some of the following:
Protect the relationship from outside stressors, respect each other’s privacy and trust, encouraging emotional independence, and building a strong, “us” instead of “I” etc.
Just as a home without walls is exposed to external threats, a relationship without boundaries is susceptible to misunderstandings, resentment, and external manipulation.
